Introduction to conformal defects

Abstract: I will give an introduction to the field of conformal defects. I will start by talking about how such defects arise in lattice systems, such as the Ising model. I will then discuss how they are realized in quantum field theory, giving some examples in the free and interacting quantum field theories.

Symmetry-Resolved Density of States

Abstract: It is well-known that the density of states of unitary CFT has a universal behavior at high energy. The behavior is related to the entropy of the black hole if CFT has a weakly coupled gravitational dual in AdS. When CFT has a global symmetry, it is interesting to find out how its Hilbert space is decomposed into irreducible representation of the symmetry. For example, the weak gravity conjecture applied to AdS gives a specific prediction on the decomposition. In this talk, I will derive universal formulas regarding the decomposition of states at high energy. The formulas are applicable to general unitary CFT and have nice interpretations in the holographic dual.
