Pizza will be served* I'll briefly review the motivation for axions as a candidate for dark matter and then describe progress on PXS, the Princeton Axion Search. Like the pioneering ADMX experiment, PXS is based on Sikivie's holoscope concept. It complements ADMX by targeting the mass range 0.8 to 2.1 ueV, just below ADMX's excluded region. PXS is a "table top" experiment that will use a large bore conduction cooled magnet led by PPPL to produce the magnetic field and a traveling wave parametric amplifier developed by JPL to read out the <100 mK microwave resonator that is immersed in the magnet field. The experiment is well underway with many subsystems under test. Lyman Page, Exploring the Birth of the Universe with the CMB (4:00 PM - 5:30 PM) + Abstract: | 2 Calkins (3:30 PM - 4:30 PM) |
