Abstract: Measurements of fluctuations in the microwave background directly probe physics in the very early universe. They also enable us to map the projected distribution of matter, electron pressure and electron momentum. They probe the properties of dark matter, dark energy and the physics of inflation. Thus, they are an important tool in study beyond standard model physics. I will review the physics of these fluctuations, discuss recent observational measurements and prospects for new observations. |
